NEET PG 2025 NEWS : Important Updates
Jun 9, 2025The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has requested the Supreme Court’s approval to postpone the NEET-PG 2025 exam to August 3, 2025. The examination was originally scheduled for June 15, 2025, but the exam has been postponed. Following a court ruling that rejected the two-shift format, citing concerns about variations in question paper difficulty. NBEMS consulted with the Tata Consultancy Services to ensure that the single-shift exam could be conducted. 3 August 2025 has been identified as the earliest and most feasible date to conduct the examination. Logistical arrangements are now being finalized across more than 250 cities, involving over 1,000 centers and 60,000 personnel.
The application window for the NEET PG examination will also be reopened for students to update their test center preferences and other editable information. This decision directly impacts thousands of medical aspirants preparing for the NEET PG examination to get admission to the postgraduate programs.

NEET-PG 2025 Key Points raised by the NBEMS
Here are some of the key points raised by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences:
-
Single-shift examinations are mandatory: The court ruled that conducting the exam in two shifts was based on the personal decision, as question papers on the exam could never have the same difficulty levels.
-
The fairness and transparency among the students during the exam: The court emphasized that normalization should be an exception, not a routine process, ensuring fairness for all candidates.
-
Logistical challenges: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences argued that the limited test centers increase the difficulty level of the exam single shift, but the court rejected this proposal, referring the India’s technological capabilities.
-
Comparison with NEET UG: The court questioned why NEET-PG couldn’t follow the single shift model used for NEET UG, which has comparatively more students.
-
Revised exam date: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences proposed that the examination for the NEET PG will be held on August 3, 2025, as the earliest date, referring to TCS’s technical constraints in arranging exam centers and infrastructure.
