The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination 2025 is a national level test conducted by the NBEMS. The FMGE exam is mandatory for all Indian students who wish to practice medicine in India after pursuing a medical degree from foreign institutions. The exam is conducted twice a year, in June and in December, candidates can choose according to their preference. The FMGE Exam 2025 is scheduled for the date 26 July, 2025. Candidates can register till 17 May, 2025 through the official website- natboard.edu.in.  To be eligible, candidates must have completed their primary medical education from a recognized foreign institution and must be Indian citizens or OCIs.

About FMGE 2025 Exam

The FMGE exam is conducted by NBEMS in India for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their medical education abroad and wish to practice in India. The online registration for the session 2025-26 has already started from 28 May, 2025 with the deadline set for 17 May, 2025. The FMGE 2025 is scheduled for 26 July, 2025. Applicants can easily register online just by visiting the official website of the FMGE.

The FMGE Exam is conducted for 5 hours which is further divided into two parts, each for 2.5 hours. The exam is conducted in a computer-based test with a total of 300 multiple choice questions. The application fee for the FMGE exam is INR 6195 for all the Indian students. Applicants can pay the fee online through various payment methods such as Debit/Credit/UPI/Net Banking.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed their primary medical education from a recognized foreign institution and must be Indian citizens or OCIs, and the degree must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Graduates from the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand are exempt from the FMGE exam.

FMGE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Students should check this eligibility criteria before applying for this screening test. Below is a detailed criteria list:

  • Applicants must be Indian citizens or OCI.
  • Candidates must have completed their primary medical education from a foreign institution.
  • The medical degree must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools maintained by the World Health Organization. 
  • The degree must be verified by the Indian Embassy in the country where the qualification was obtained.

FMGE 2025 Application Form

The FMGE 2025 application form is available online on the NBEMS  website -https://exam.natboard.edu.in/ . The online application form was made available from 28 May 2025 and will be available till 17 May, 2025. The FMGE Exam for the 2025-26 session will be held on 26 July, 2025. The correction window for students will be open from 22 May to 25 May, 2025. The FMGE Admit Cards are also expected to be released soon till 22 July, 2025.

Candidates must fill out the application form with their personal, academic, and contact details and need to upload required documents. Candidates need to pay an application fee of INR 6195 through various payment methods such as Debit/Credit/UPI/Net Banking.

FMGE 2025 Exam Pattern

The FMGE Exam is a computer-based test that typically lasts for 5 hours,  divided into two parts each for 2.5 hours.  The exam pattern includes 300 multiple-choice questions covering Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical, and Clinical subjects.

The FMGE Exam followed a single-question paper format, but in FMGE 2025, the exam is divided into two parts with strict time-bound sections. Each section contains 150 questions, and candidates must complete them within the allotted time before moving to the next section.

FMGE 2025 Exam Admit Card

The FMGE 2025 admit card for the June session will be released by the National Board of Examinations on its official website-natboard.edu.in. The Admit card will be released one week before the exam date, approximately on 22 July, 2025.
